Tense in English Grammar

* Detail note on Tense:


.  Introduction:- 

    Tenses play an important role in the English language and it is a grammatical feature that indicates when an action event, thought or feeling happened or will happen.

 Whether sometime in the past, in the present or will take some time on the future.   

Form a general view of tense ,we will go on to discuss each tense in detail with example that's as bellow.


∆.  What are tenses in       English grammar ?


A tense is a form of the verb that allows you to express time. The tense of the verb tells us when an event or something existed or when a person did something.

∆.  Types of tenses:- 


 There are a three main type in the English grammar it's as bellow describe:




         1. Past tense
        
        2. Present tense

       3. Future tense


That's three tense in under subtype of tense that's all are twelve (12) Tense in English grammar.


∆ past tense:-

       The past tense is used to describe an activity or an  event that has happened in the past 


¶¶  Structure formula:-  
 subject+ verb  + (2nd form ) + object.
      ____________________
¶¶   Example:-  
                             We met  yesterday.
 
 1. Simple past tense:- 

  Indicates an action took place before the present moment and that has no real connection with the present time.


• structure formula:- 
 
Subject+ V2 + object.

Example:- He danced in the f                                    - unction.

2. Continuous past             tense:-

     indicates an action going on at 
Some time in the past.

•structure formula:-

 Subject+ was/were + verb + ing+ object.


Example:- I was driving a car.

3.perfect past tense:-

  Indicates an action in the past that has been completed before another time or events in the past.


• Structure formula:-  
Subject+ had + V3+ + object

Example:sakshi had written a letter. 

4.past perfect continuous tense:-


∆ present Tense:-

The present tense shows that an action is happening in the present time.


 5. Simple present tense:-

We use the present simple to talk about repeated actions, habits, general truths,wishes and emotions.

• structure formula:-
Subject+v1 +s/es+ object.

Example:-
              
1. A habitual action ___ he walk to                 school.

2. General truths ____  the sun rises in
     the morning.


6. Continuous present tense:-
        
The present continuous tense is used to talk about on going action, events, conditions that's are not finished.

            Or
 
Indicates an action that is talking place at moment of speaking.

• structure formula:-

Subject+am/is/ are+ v1+ing+ object.


Example:- she is going to                              market.

7. perfect present
     tense:-


it is used  to show an action that Started in the past and has just finished.



•structure formula:-

Subject+has/have+ V3+object.

Example :-  Linda  written a                            letter.

8. Present perfect continuous tense:-

∆ Future tense:-

The future tense is a verb tense used to describe an event or action that has not yet happened and is expected to happen in the future.


9. Simple future tense:-

Indicates an action that will take place after the present time and that has no real connection with the present time.

•structure formula:- 
 
Subject+will/shall+ verb+object .

Example:-  He will walk                                 home.


10. Continuous future tense:-

 It is used to express an ongoing or continued action in future.

• structure formula:-
 
Subject+ will/shall+ be+ verb+ ing+ object.

Example:- Delia will be reading a letter.

11. Perfect future tense:-

Indicates an action in the future that will have been completed in the future.

• structure formula:-

Subject+ will/shall+ have+V3+ object.


Example:-

 they will have shifted the house by Sunday morning .

12. Future perfect continuous tense:-

  The tense we use to speaking or also in writing skills that are most important thing is the tense is grammatical we use to describe te in  past , present or future.
